Just for signing up with BetMGM Poker Michigan will award you $25 in your account. It breaks down to $10 for cash tables or fastforward games and $15 to use for sit-n-goes and multitable tournaments. You must play through the $25 in bonus cash in order to withdraw the funds. Bonus funds will expire after 28 days.
Once you are registered, head on over to the cashier and make your first deposit of at least $10 and BetMGM Poker will match that deposit 100% up to $600. BetMGM does complicate things as to how the bonus funds are released, but we have done the math with a full breakdown of how you can claim the full $600 in bonus money. The bonus funds are released to your cash balance in 10% slabs, meaning if you make the full deposit of $600, you will get $60 at a time. Those 10% slabs are released after you earn 12x the bonus funds in iRPs. So, the math tells us that to release that first $60, you will need to earn 720 iRPs. We wish that BetMGM would simplify the terms, in order to make it easier to understand, but keep reading for a full breakdown on how this all works.
iRPs are earned through playing cash games, tournaments, and sit-n-gos at a rate of 4.20 iRPs for each $1 you pay in rake/fees. So, in order to achieve that magical number of 720 iRPs to release the first $60, you will need to pay approximately $170 in rake or tournament fees, and to clear the full $600, you will need to pay ~$1700 in rake or tournament fees, making this just under a 3x turnover to clear the bonus funds. At the end of the day, the bonus will offer around 35% cashback on your rake during the time that you are clearing it.
You have 28 days to clear the bonus match, so be sure to make your first deposit at a time that you will be able to play enough to clear the bonus funds. Any leftover bonus funds after 28 days will disappear. If you are looking for the fastest path to earning enough iRPs to clear the bonus, cash games would be the way to go.
All-in all, it won’t take you long to get to the BetMGM Poker tables. First you’ll want to visit the BetMGM Poker website and create the account. During sign up you’ll be required to provide your name, address, phone number, choose a username and password, and even include the last four digits of your social security number. Next, it is time to download the software, or download the app to your phone or tablet (more on that process below).

All the functions from the desktop client are available including banking, promos, etc., but casino and sports will need to played on their dedicated apps.
BetMGM has you covered no matter what style of poker you would like to play. Cash games, tournaments, sit and gos, and their Fast Forward format.
Cash games are considered the purest form of poker. You buy-in with cash, the blinds never go up and you can walk away whenever you want. BetMGM offers cash games with blinds starting at $0.01/$0.02 and the sky is the limit on the top end. For now, BetMGM only spreads No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha, and Limit Hold’em, but may start spreading more games in the future.
The cash game lobby is fully sortable by game type, buy-in range, players at the table, and format. Typical live poker cash games are offered in 10 or 9 person tables, but BetMGM tables start at 8 for the max but also offer 6 handed tables, and heads up tables where it’s just you and your opponent grinding it out. Table buy-ins range from 30 big blinds on the low end to the max at the table of 100 bigs.
Tournament poker took the world by storm in the past few decades, and is now the most popular format. A tournament is when you pay a pre-determined buy-in, and are awarded a set amount of chips to play with. Blinds escalate after a pre-determined amount of time, usually 8-15 minutes per level, and you play until you are either out of chips, or accumulate all the chips.
Tournaments on BetMGM start around the clock and are offered for multiple games including Stud, Texas Hold’em, Omaha and more. Games are sortable by category, buy in range, format and speed.
The speed of the blinds are also important as there are several different formats there, too. Regular speed blinds are between 10 and 12 minutes, fast and turbo tournaments blinds increase every 5 minutes, hyper-turbo blinds go up every 3 minutes, and “slow” blinds increase every 15 minutes.
Sit and go tournaments have similar characteristics to standard tournaments but do not have a set start time. Instead, they will get underway after a specified amount of players register. Sit and go tournaments on BetMGM MI all run in the turbo speed and are limited to two-person and six-person tables. Buy-ins range from $1 up to $500 and at the time, it seems that No Limit Texas Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha are the only two options. Six person sit and go tournaments pay out the top two players and heads up tournaments obviously only pay out the winner.
Fast forward tables at BetMGM is a form of cash games or tournaments where once you fold your hand, you will be whisked away to another table full of new players. Games are fast and furious as you are dealt into a new hand as soon as you land at a new table. Opponents will not see that you folded until it is your turn, but you will already be sitting at a new table as soon as you click fold. Fast Forward games are available for cash games and tournaments alike, but are not available for sit & go tournaments just yet.
BetMGM MI has a loyalty program that is tied to their retail casino program called MLife rewards. When you play poker, casino games, or place sports bets you earn iRPs (iReward points) that can be used to to buy bonuses, express comps, and cash. Express comps are used at their retail properties for room, dining, and other amenities. Unfortunately the MLife rewards program primarily gives you retail perks, but we hope that some day they will start allowing you to cash in on free tournament entries or cash bonuses to use online.
When you play poker with BetMGM MI, you earn 4.20 iRPs for each $1 paid to rake in cash games and 4.20 iRPs for every $1 paid in tournament fees. For example, if you enter a tournament that is $100+$9, you would earn 37.8 iRPs thanks to the $9 tournament fee. In cash games, anytime you pay $1 in rake, you will earn the same 4.20 iRPs.
