Michigan Online Craps – Where and How to Play

Playing craps is much more than just rolling dice. The concept of the game can be pretty intimidating, especially to new players who deal with it for the first time. However, there’s no need to worry, it’s easy to understand the basic principles.

What’s more, we’ll break it all down in detail for you. This guide was created with one purpose – to give you a better sense for online craps. We will also go through some of the popular Michigan casinos where you can play craps in-person, and focus on the soon-to-launch online operators and their potential promotions.

Why Is Craps So Popular?

We want to start our craps guide by explaining why online craps is so popular. Online casinos have vast catalogs of games. When there are so many options available, why do we choose to play craps?

The truth is, there are some big advantages to playing online craps. First of all, it’s definitely not boring. You need to make gambling decisions on a regular basis, keeping players engaged. It makes the game exciting, and challenging.

The online version is played on a virtual craps table and with two dice. You can bet against other players, like yourself, or you can bet against the casino. The online version is played much faster than the in-person alternative. It also comes with lower betting limits.

At online casinos, betting limits might start at $1, while they are much higher at traditional casinos. It is way easier to learn while playing online than when playing in-person. Then, once ready you can try playing craps at brick and mortar casinos.

Anyway, when it comes to the online versions, you should know that random number generators control them, so you can rest assured that they provide fair and truly random results.

This game is characterized by a long and rich history. According to some game historians, craps dates back to the Crusades. The game was first introduced to American players in New Orleans. During the Second World War, it was especially popular among soldiers.

How To Play Craps

In this section we’ll outline the basic rules of the game and introduce you to some of the main types of bets. The first thing you should remember is that the course of action during a roll is strongly dependent on the type of bet you choose. Before we get into details, let’s start right from the beginning.

Each online table comes with defined betting limits. Before rolling the dice, you need to make your bets. Usually before the very first roll the “pass line” and “don’t pass the line” are the most popular options. Once you place your bet, click on the “Roll” button.

Pass Line

Pass line wagers are very common in craps. If the come-out roll is 7 or 11, you automatically win. If it shows 2, 3 or 12… you do not. If any other number comes up, it becomes the point. After the point is established, the pass line bet wins if the point comes up before 7, and loses if 7 comes up before the point. If any other result comes up, the game is still on.

Don’t Pass Line

Just like the title suggests, the don’t pass line type of bet is the opposite of the pass line bet. In case you roll 2 or 3, you win. However, if a 7 appears, you lose. 11 or 12 are neutral. Once the point is established, you’ll be hoping for 7 to appear before the point comes up again. If the point appears first, you’ll lose your bet.

You can also make additional points bets once the come-out roll and the point are established. Without giving an exhaustive list of possible bets, we’d like to go through some of the most popular ones and associated odds. These bets are placed on specific numbers or a series of numbers:

Field

You win this type of bet if you manage to throw 3, 4, 9, 10 or 11. On a 2, you’ll get a double payout and triple in case you roll out a 12. On the other hand, you’ll lose if the dice lands on 5, 6, 7 or 8.

Come and Don’t Come Bets

These types of bets are similar to the pass the line and don’t pass the line bets. The only difference is that come and don’t come bets can be placed once the game is on.

Proposition Bets

Prop bets include 7 different types of bets that you can place during a game: Any Craps, Any Seven, Eleven, Ace Deuce, Aces or Boxcars, Hornets and Hardways. The payout odds differ for these types of bets. For example, Any Craps pays 8-1, while Aces or Boxcars pays 30-1.

Big Six Big Eight

Big Six Big Eight is another type of wager that can be placed anytime during the game. It pays out if a 6 or 8 is thrown before a 7 and it is paid out in even odds (1-1).

Which Michigan Online Casinos Offer Craps?

Unfortunately we don’t know… yet. The state of Michigan is home to plenty of land-based casinos where you can try out different games. However, when it comes to online casinos the landscape is still very much taking shape. Online sites are expected to launch sometime in 2021, with many operators having already agreed to licensing partnerships. We will update accordingly as online casinos launch to reflect the status of their craps games.

Online gambling has been legalized in the state of Michigan, but legal online gambling and fully operational online casino platforms are two different things. The timeframe for the debut of online gambling sites is still up in the air.

Once the sites go live we will also see dedicated mobile applications. The majority of casino-goers use mobile apps to play, and operators will strive to offer competitive experiences that include large gaming catalogs – including mobile craps.

Live Dealer Craps

Live Dealer games are the latest buzz in the world of online gaming. There’s a number of reasons why players gravitate towards Live Dealer options.

First of all, the game looks more realistic thanks to the live dealers in front of you. It gives you the feeling of playing in a land-based casino. Another advantage is that you don’t have to go out–you will be able to play live casino games from the comfort of your home.

What’s more, you’ll be able to play live casino games on desktop or laptop computers, or if you prefer playing the games on the go, you can access them on your tablet or mobile phone. Playing live craps is especially attractive since the social aspect of the game is successfully replicated through the interactions with real dealers.

When it comes to Michigan online casinos, the truth is that we don’t expect them to launch with live dealer games. The first priority for online brands is to establish a functional online casino, and later they can develop it by adding a Live Dealer section.

Michigan Craps Bonuses

It is a widely known fact that regulated online casinos offer various types of promotional offers to attract new customers. At the same time, they provide special promotions for their loyal, existing users. Therefore, we expect to see myriad welcome offers and promotions once the sites go live in Michigan.

However, keep in mind that not all promotional offers include craps under their qualified games requirement. Usually, online casino welcome bonuses are focused on slots, and only on occasion are table games, like craps, accepted.

That’s why we strongly recommend you to read the terms and conditions of any offer before you decide to claim it. If craps is included in the promotion, it’s a good sign. In case it’s not, make sure to check out the available offers of other online casinos.

Available Options

One of the greatest advantages of playing online craps is that you don’t have to push your way in with other bettors around the table to see what’s going on, or fight to place your bets. The excellent graphics and design will make your gaming experience even more enjoyable online. Don’t forget that there are different software providers in the online casino industry too, so each online craps game may look different.

These different versions follow the same rules, so once you learn how to play one version of online craps, you won’t have any difficulty playing another. However, these versions differ in their betting limits, payouts, RTP (return to player) percentages, graphics and overall design.

When considering craps software and choosing which type of game to start playing, there are a few things you should take into account. The craps games developed in the past few years come with better and more realistic graphics. Some of the most popular software providers of online craps are the following ones:

  • Microgaming
  • NetEnt
  • Playtech
  • RealTime Gaming
  • Betsoft
  • Rival
  • WorldMatch

We hope to see a lot of different versions of craps in the state of Michigan.

Craps is a great social game in an actual casino, but it can be overwhelming for novices. Online versions are easier to understand, and there’s no hurry to place your bets. For these reasons, its a nice option for new players to get repetitions in online games before trying out their luck in a land-based casino.

What’s more, the vast majority of online casinos offer the possibility of demo play. Players can check out the game without having to put up any real money. Once ready you can make a deposit, but it’s not required to use the free demos.
